Diabetes Bible Study- Learning Through Stress And Trials
James 1:2-4
Mat 11:28-30
John 16:33
What will we learn by having diabetes in our life? Diabetes is one of the trials and tribulations you may have read about. It’s
something that makes us go through trying times, and may lead us asking the "Why me?" question that sometimes invades our\ mind.
Going through trials is a way for us to gain patience in our lives (James 1:2-4) When you have something like diabetes in your life,
it isn’t going away. Either you gain patience and do the tasks you need to do, or you find yourself in a place of confusion and unfinished
plans. It’s a learning process and sometimes the learning does come slow…but it’s there, for the taking.
Yes, living with a chronic illness like diabetes leaves much to be desired, but it also gives us a lot that we wouldn’t necessarily
have. We learn not only patience, but diligence, perseverance and many other good qualities. It may take years before these
become evident in your life, but again…it’s there for the taking.
APPLICATION
1) Think about all the lessons in patience you have learned (or need to learn). Do you get upset when the first
drop of blood doesn’t go onto the glucose testing strip correctly? Are you impatient about waiting for your medications to
work?
2) Try your best to be more calm about your diabetes related tasks.
3) Try to think of some relaxing things to do (hot baths, gardening, etc…)
