Diabetes Bible Study - Be Glad You're Here

Psalm 118:24
Romans 8:28

Proverbs 3:5

Being happy and glad about life in general might seem a bit simplistic?   How can you just be glad about things the way they are?  After all, you have diabetes, you have bills to pay, you now have pains and problems you didn’t have before, and, oh yeah,  you have DIABETES.

Looking at life and it’s problems can be depressing if you think about it.  But being GLAD about it is also possible.  Be glad about the fact that God gave you this day to live and gave you another day to try to do well with your diabetes management.

You might think, "How can I be thankful and happy about being in this situation?"   Well, remember that when you believe in Christ ALL things can work for good (Romans 8:28)   So, yes, the diabetes in your life can bring something good into the world. It  might come through you sharing your experiences, or God bringing someone to you to help.  Don’t close off the good that can come out of this…you might not always understand it (Proverbs 3:5), but  just know that God is there, able to work with it in your life  Be open to it.

APPLICATION:

1)  Make sure you thank God daily.  Even if you don't "feel" like doing it.  You might feel like punching the wall, but that doesn't negate the fact that God is always watching out for you.  Feeling frustrated or angry doesn't mean God doesn't love you and isn't looking out for your best interests.  It just means that we are feeling pressure or are emotionally in a bad place.

2)  If you don’t understand something, rely on God to use it for good.  Don't get vindiction or turn to negative thoughts.0

3)  Remember this phrase, "Gratitude Is An Attitude".  Being thankful for all things is an act of faith, so it is an "action", not just words.

4) You should be thanking IN all things not FOR all things.  So, if you break your leg, you’re not thankful for the broken leg.  You would be thankful for God bringing you through the pain and healing your body.
