Diabetes Bible Study - Christ Knows
Hebrew 2:18
For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted,
He is able to aid those who are tempted.
Once I was diagnosed with diabetes I had a “rocking chair scenario” in my mind. To me, my life was
over, I now had a disease that would wreck my life and there was nothing I could do about it. Then I proceeded to make those
thoughts, my intent…and that intent, my reality.
One of my main thoughts when I was first diagnosed and even sometimes today is, “No one knows what I have to put up with in this
life. No one understands”. Isn’t it a comfort to know that Christ went through each and every trial and
adversity we’ve gone through? When we pray to ask the Lord to help us, He has personal knowledge of the exact feelings, temptations and
emotions we may be experiencing.
Each temptation may seem like something new to us, or it might be something that’s plagued us for years….but God knows about it fully and
completely. Diabetes isn’t something God has to get us through without knowing exactly how we feel….He knows. The depression that
diabetes can bring isn’t something we have to explain to God….He knows. The fear we may have of diabetes complications
isn’t something we have to isolate and keep to ourselves….God knows about it.
This scripture tells us that this knowledge that God has makes Him perfect to be our Helper, Comforter, and Confidant. Tell Him
about your diabetes problems, no matter what they are. You don’t have to be ashamed…..just say some prayers and ask God to help get you
through and past your trials. After all, we are conquerors (Romans 8:37)
