Diabetes Bible Study - Give Thanks In The Turmoil

"Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The last few days have been tough for me, emotionally and physically.   I haven’t felt much like seeing the joy in my life but God has brought me through all these tough days.  I’m starting to see the joy in my life today, and that’s all I’m concerned with…today.  Last night I was on the verge of tears, but I had to thank God for everything that he’s given me in my life.

You might be asking yourself, “Why should I give thanks for today?   My ankles are swollen, my injection hurt and my eyesight is blurry. What’s good about that?”     That’s the challenge. Be joyful, even in a situation like the one described.  See, it’s a choice….it’s not just some magic feeling that will come over you and knock out all the bad feelings.   You have to choose to use the tools God left for us…and joy is one of those tools.

So, give God thanks today, for your life and for the hope that is in all of it.
