Diabetes Bible Study - Thankfulness

Psalm 107:1
Psalm 35:28
Ephesians 5:20

Thanksgiving, a word that Americans celebrate each year,  but a word we should practice every second of every day.   Giving thanks to God is something that can pull us through trying times and it can also make us remember that God is constantly with us, even in times of sadness and turmoil, and yes, even with diabetes in our lives. The question might come up, "Why should I give thanks with all the problems I have?"  The answer to that is simple.  Even when you have nothing (materially), when you are sick, whenyou are "down and out", you still have the Lord with you.  He’s there for comfort, support and guidance. Another phrase comes to mind, "It can always get worse." And Satan is always trying to make our lives worse while we’re here on earth.  So it’s important to give thanks for those things that are right AND those things that are wrong, since God can use ALL things for good.   For Christians, "worse" is always "better" since God uses his infinite wisdom and power to transform negativity into a beautiful thing we can all use and learn from. Can’t think of anything to give thanks for?  Give thanks for the birds, the trees, the fact that you’re alive today, the shoes you have on, your children, your husband, your wife, your job,
your creativity….see, it’s not that hard to think of things.

APPLICATION

1)  How can you turn a negative in your life into a positive? (having  diabetes turns into helping people with diabetes, etc…)

2)  Keep a "Thanks List" .  Write down three things each day to give thanks for.

3)  Keep this phrase in mind, "A thankful heart is a happy heart."
