- What Is A Charcot Foot?
Charcot Foot (Charcot Joint, Charcot Fracture) is a foot condition that affects people with diabetes, as well as those without diabetes. It is a serious condition since the diabetic can lose some of the feeling in their feet due to neuropathy and literally crush their own joints and bones by walking on a damaged foot.

- My Husband's Condition
In April 2007, my husband of 10 years (a Type I diabetic since age 26), was diagnosed with Charcot foot. Initially, he went to our primary care physician who told him to take Advil and keep it elevated. I advised him to go to a podiatrist/specialist--and I am glad we did.
- Worms
So I decided to just sit there and look at my leg non-stop. I saw things that looked like baby worms crawling on my leg. I watched them move and crawl out of the crevices in that dead skin. See, this skin had gotten rough and hard
- Helping A Husband With Charcot Foot
We have been told the most important thing with charcot foot is to protect the foot, from any type of accidental bumping, tripping, etc. because of the bones being brittle. My husband has always been the type of person that has done manual labor all his working life and it really bothers him that he is not able to do the things he could do prior to being diagnosed. The vibrations of riding in an auto also causes pain in his foot.
- Charcot Foot Discovery A Woman's Story
I discovered the trails of Charcot in 1995 when I was sent to a podiatrist by my Diabetes Dr. due to foot swelling. I was diagnossed within 3 months (it takes a while for a true diagnosis due to having to track the joint deterioration) but that did not make things any better
- Living With Charcot
Hi, my name is Bob and I developed Charcot Arthropathy some time last year. I don't know when it happened because of my diabetes. I have pain and suffering in my feet yet I could not feel it when I broke my left foot and walked on it for a few weeks or even a few months according to my doctors.
