Beta cells (bay-ta sells)- makes insulin

Carbohydrate (car-bo-hi-drate) - how much sugar and starch is in a food

Fat - energy (faht en-er-gee) you get from meat, dairy food and oils

Glucagon (gloo-ca-gon)- helps your body if you have an insulin reaction

Glucose (gloo-cose) -a sugar in your blood

Glucose Testing Strips (gloo-cose tess-ting strips) - strips used to test blood sugar

Hyperglycemia (hi-per-gli-see-me-a)- too much sugar in your blood

Hypoglycemia (hi-po-gli-see-me-a) - not enough sugar in your blood

Insulin (in-sa-lin)- helps your body use the food you eat

Insulin Reaction (in-sa-lin ree-ac-shun) - when you get sick because your blood sugar is too low

Kidneys (kid-nees) - help clean your blood

Lancet (lan-set) - the little needle you use to stick your finger when you test your blood

Meter (mee-ter) - the machine that tests your blood

Pancreas (pan-cree-us) - the part of your body that makes insulin
