Exercise And Diabetes

When you have diabetes, exercise is something you should do. It helps your body use insulin and that can help your blood sugar go down and stay in a good place. If you have to lose weight, exercise is also good for that too. Exercise can sometimes be boring. Some kids would like to play their video games instead of doing something that has their body moving. You have to choose and it's good to get your body moving sometimes. Exercise IS a good thing.

Sports are very good for exercise. Here are some sports that you can do:

basketball

baseball

football

soccer

tennis

hockey

Talk to the person who takes care of you and find out what sport they think might be good for you to do You will have to wear special clothes and other things to keep you from getting hurt. You will also have to learn the rules of the game.

You may also need to find out how to take care of the diabetes in your life while you play the sport too. You might have to eat a snack before you start playing. You might also need to test your blood sugar before you play, while you're playing and after you are finished. Your blood sugar could go low. If your blood sugar is 250 or higher it might not be good to play a sport because your blood sugar can go higher.

So, start thinking about sports. It's a great way to exercise!
